I want Lincoln to succeed. It's not about being the underdog or anything either. I truly have loved their products in the past. I will admit that their current lineup (excepting the new MKZ) is extremely lackluster and without any passion.
Car and Driver seems to think this is what the next MKS will look like. If that's true, I may have to seriously consider one.
What does Oppo think?

Nice.
Thats a much better looking rendering than the ugly Nissan Z car posted yesterday.

a legacy of the archaic Volvo S80 platform
Looks like someone just made my s*** list.

I'll just say this: WHOA.
That's a good looking automobile. The rear looks even better than the MKZ's from that angle, and finally Lincoln has done a front-end to match!

It looks exactly the same thematically as the current MKS. Lincoln needs to get on the edge. Cadillac is the leader. If this is the best they can, than Ford should just kill it. BTW, I've owned a few Lincolns myself. I want them to succeed. We could all post a dozen concepts they should do. A bland rehash of what they have with better leather and stitching isn't going to cut it.

This is what happens when a BMW 7-series, MKS, and an Audi A8 have a threesome.
And they will not build this car. It would make too much sense, and LMC isn't in the business of making sense (any more).

Haha so is my Taurus SHO, I think the platform got so heavily redone that it shouldn't be associated with the S80 anymore...

They made a nicer looking '14 Impala.

Needs no division in the center of the grill. Someone want to photoshop the lincoln logo out for us? See what it looks like with a straight grill like Ford has?
That being said, dear god make a shorter, 2-door "Continental" coupe with a Boss 5.0 V8 and a Manual out of Mustang. I can settle for a Chevy SS competitor though if they don't pursue that 2-door road.
The nice thing is that the Buick Lacrosse is the only decent "competitor" they list. But just wait for Cadillac to update the XTS. How good that car is determines Lincoln's survival.

You make a good point, however, I will take this over nothing. Besides, if it drives well, does it really matter? I think this design is a step forward.

"How good that car is determines Lincoln's survival"
This is a good point. Having driven an XTS I can tell you, Lincoln has a long way to go.

Sadly I think you are right. If they were to build this, I feel like it would be a success much in the way the MKZ has become. People aren't buying the MKZ because it's a Fusion derivative, they are buying it because it looks better (imo) and they have no clue what it's based on. Also, they don't care. I call it the Corolla theory.

I couldn't agree more! When I first saw the profile image, I wasn't impressed until I saw the front 3/4. Blown. Away.

I was starting to see that as well. I can tell you the 14 Impala is quite a nice vehicle as well. I fear GM is likely stepping on the LaCrosse's toes a bit with it though.

I want to see more of that rear-end, too.

Maybe. Ford is putting all of its emphasis on Ford products, Lincoln is on a 10-year plan to crawl back, but will the folks in the Glass House wait that long?
